Inspired by: Amy Pond from Doctor Who

Any Whovians out there?

I'd never watched Doctor Who before, but I caught up on the series during hiatus, and I can't wait for the new episodes to start on BBC America tomorrow! If you're into nerd stuff like I am, then you should definitely check out this show about a time- and space-traveling alien and his companions.

My favorite companion is the lovely and spunky Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan. And I love her style, a kind of sexy/tomboy/nerd chic.

Intel Inspired Ultrabook™ Fashion Inspiration: Denim

For week #7 of my partnership with Intel Inspired Ultrabook™, we're finding inspiration in denim. This week, while browsing on my Ultrabook™, I found inspiration by looking at denim through the decades.

Levi's first introduced jeans for women in the 1930's, when they had a primarily western look.

In the early 40's, J. Howard Miller featured a women in denim in his Rosie the Riveter poster. And check her out in this Rockwell painting!

Marilyn Monroe is known for her glamorous wardrobe, but she also looked fabulous when kicking back in jeans and denim jackets back in the 50's and 60's.

And in the 70's, Charlie's Angels brought bell bottoms to the fashion forefront.

By the late 70's, punk icons like Patti Smith and Debbie Harry looked tough and sexy in their denim.

In 1980, Brooke Shields wore denim in an iconic Calvin Klein campaign.

But the rest of the 80's into the early 90's was a pretty bad time in the history of denim. I mean...

So was the rest of the 90's, if we're being honest.

Today, there are really no rules when it comes to denim. Skinny, flared, dark, distressed, printed, colored... it's all fabulous!

A Quick Note...

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

I've got a crazy few weeks coming up - a trip to the in-laws' lake house, a busy Labor Day weekend at home, and then up to NYC for IFBcon, LuckyFABB, and general Fashion Week madness. So posting will be light through early September.

I'll be back full-speed on September 10th, give or take a few days. I may be slow to respond to emails, but I'll still be checking in.

Intel Inspired Ultrabook™ Fashion Inspiration: Scarves

For week #6 of my partnership with Intel Inspired Ultrabook™, we're looking to scarves for inspiration - what a fun way to get excited for fall! This week, while browsing on my Ultrabook™, I was once again inspired by some of my favorite bloggers. Look at all the different ways they've rocked their scarves!

SWF's scarf brightens up her rainy day style:

Girl With Curves wears her scarf as a shawl:

Orchid Grey ties her scarf around her bag:

Blonde Bedhead's vintage fur scarf is chic and luxurious.

Nicolette Mason pairs a bright scarf with tough black leather.

And of course, I want to show off some of my favorite bright, colorful scarves.
